Why this works
12,500 / 1,500 is 8.33. After 8 months you have saved 12,000, so the vacation needs a ninth month. ROUNDUP with 0 decimals always rounds up to the next whole number, so 8.33 becomes 9. A number that is already whole, like 9,000 / 750 = 12, stays as it is.
Common mistake: Rounding with ROUND. It rounds 8.33 down to 8 months, and the savings end up 500 short of the price.
The answer
- D2
=ROUNDUP(1B2/C2,20)
In plain words: Round 1the price in B2 divided by the savings per month in C2 up to 2a whole number of months.
