Why this works
Fill down and fill right copy the first cell of the selection into the rest, adjusting relative addresses on the way. That's how one formula becomes a whole column of results.
Common mistake: Selecting only the empty cells before pressing Ctrl+D. Include the cell with the formula at the top of the selection.
The answer
- Fill downCtrl+D
- Fill rightCtrl+R
Select the cell with the formula and the cells below it, then press Ctrl+D (Cmd+D on a Mac).
- Fill downCtrl+D
- Fill rightCtrl+R
