Click cells into a formula
Step 1 of 3
You don't have to type cell addresses. Type =, then click a cell, and Excel writes its address into the formula for you.
Click Continue when you're ready.
Already know it? Type the formula straight into B5.

Why this works
While you're writing a formula, a click adds the cell's address instead of moving away. The finished formula, =B2+B3+B4, is the same as if you had typed it.
Common mistake: Pressing Enter right after clicking a cell, before the formula is finished. Type the + first, then click the next cell.
The answer
- B5
=B2+B3+B4
Type =, click the first cell, type an operator like +, click the next cell and press Enter when you're done.
