Why this works
AutoSum looks for numbers directly above the active cell, or to its left, and writes =SUM() around them. Check the range it picked before you press Enter.
Common mistake: Pressing Enter without checking the range AutoSum picked. A blank cell or a heading in the column can make it stop too early.
The answer
- Insert AutoSumAlt+=
- Confirm and move downEnter
- UndoCtrl+Z
- RedoCtrl+Y
Alt+= on Windows and Cmd+Shift+T on a Mac. Excel writes a SUM of the numbers above the active cell.
- Insert AutoSumAlt+=
- Confirm and move downEnter
- UndoCtrl+Z
- RedoCtrl+Y
