Why this works
20% off 800 is 160, so the jacket costs 640. Multiplying by (1 − 0.2) = 0.8 gets there in one step: you pay 80% of the price.
Common mistake: Writing B2*C2, which gives the amount of the discount, not the price after it.
The answer
- D2
=B2*(1-C2)
The price after the discount is =B2*(1-C2), where C2 holds the discount as a percentage. The discount amount on its own is =B2*C2.
