Why this works
Shift+Space selects the active cell's row and Ctrl+Space its column. Both keep the active cell where it is, so you can carry on from the same place afterwards.
Common mistake: Mixing up the two: Shift+Space is the row, Ctrl+Space is the column.
The answer
- Select the whole rowShift+Space
- Select the whole columnCtrl+Space
- Select the current region or the whole sheetCtrl+A
Click any cell in the column and press Ctrl+Space. Shift+Space selects the row instead.
- Select the whole rowShift+Space
- Select the whole columnCtrl+Space
- Select the current region or the whole sheetCtrl+A
