# **The ROUND function**

Rounds a number to a given number of decimals. Halves round away from zero; negative decimals round to tens, hundreds and so on.

## **Syntax**

```
ROUND(number, num_digits)
```

<dl><dt>**number **</dt>
<dd>The number to round.</dd>
<dt>**num_digits **</dt>
<dd>Decimals to keep: 2 for hundredths, 0 for whole numbers, -2 for hundreds.</dd></dl>

## **Examples**

B1`=ROUND(<sup>1</sup>3.14159,<sup>2</sup>2)`

| 1 |  | **3.14** |

**In plain words:** Round <sup>1</sup>3.14159 to <sup>2</sup>2 decimal places.

B1=ROUND(1250,-2)
