# **The MAX function**

Returns the largest number. Text and blank cells in a range are ignored.

## **Syntax**

```
MAX(number1, [number2], ...)
```

<dl><dt>**number1 **</dt>
<dd>The first number, cell or range.</dd>
<dt>**number2 **(optional)</dt>
<dd>More numbers or ranges.</dd></dl>

## **Examples**

E1=MAX(C2:C6)
