# **The COUNTA function**

Counts the cells that are not empty: numbers, text, logical values and errors.

## **Syntax**

```
COUNTA(value1, [value2], ...)
```

<dd>The first value, cell or range.</dd>
<dt>**value2 **(optional)</dt>
<dd>More values or ranges.</dd></dl>
